AI is marketing LLM is Data Science

The image showing ChatGPT in a car dashboard is a perfect example – it’s taking LLM technology and packaging it as “AI everywhere” to drive adoption and investment.

**The reality:**

– LLMs are probabilistic text prediction models trained on massive datasets

– They excel at pattern matching and statistically likely completions

– No reasoning, no understanding, no consciousness

**The marketing illusion:**

– Anthropomorphizing with terms like “thinking,” “understanding,” “creative”

– Promising AGI is imminent

– Selling every enterprise “AI transformation”

The gap between what LLMs *are* (sophisticated n-gram predictors with transformer architecture) and what they’re *marketed as* (intelligent agents) creates unrealistic expectations. Then when they hallucinate, fail at basic logic, or can’t maintain context, people feel betrayed by “AI” – when really, the technology is performing exactly as designed.

The danger isn’t the technology itself – it’s the misalignment between statistical models and the “artificial intelligence” narrative used to sell them.
